Community

Develop a community strategy
Who is your potential audience and why would they participate? What would keep them from participating? What can you offer? Are you adding your service to a pre-existing community, or will people build a community around you? Will there be barriers to access (age restrictions, sign-up, etc)? What’s the goal of this community - to promote something, to bring people together around something specific, to make money? How will you measure the performance/participation in your community?

Launch in the community
A well-designed user interface will encourage a feeling of “intimacy” within your community. Provide tools for growth, such as subgroups and rich profiles.
Some sort of promotion? How do we get people there? Don’t know.

Maintain, grow and calculate next move
Solicit feedback from users and respond quickly, keeping in mind your goals for the community.Gauge your success and make adjustments if you aren’t reaching your goal. Think about how you could extend your brand to other sites using a widget, or bring in content from other sites. What other voids in community can you meet by creating another site/product?
