Some say yes, including Jakob Nielsen, and I thought it would be good to share here. I agree with some of what he says and I’d be interested to see what the group thinks.
To me, his main point is don’t take Web 2.0 too seriously. Web 2.0 is a consideration but make sure you understand user experience, your audience and others and then apply the right Web 2.0 concepts.
The bottom line? While a modest 2.0 infusion can be beneficial, advanced features are rarely the most important contributor to good user experience or profitable websites. If you get caught up in the hype, you divert attention and resources from the simpler things that really matter.
I absolutely agree. Whatever you call it, a good website is a good website.
